# 🛠️ Skills
Skills are non-combat progression trees that unlock stat bonuses, recipes, and passive improvements. Each skill has its own level and a branching node tree.
## Skill Types
- ⛏️ **Mining** — Improves mining power, ore encounter rates, and double reward chances
- 🌿 **Gathering** — Improves gathering rates and resource discovery
## Node Types
- **Stat Nodes** — Grant flat stat bonuses (mining power, encounter chances, etc.)
- **Recipe Nodes** — Unlock new crafting recipes (cost roughly double compared to stat nodes)
Nodes have dependencies — you must unlock parent nodes before accessing their children.
## Leveling Skills
Skills gain XP through their respective activities (mining ores, gathering berries/mushrooms). The XP required per level follows a quadratic curve — early levels come fast, but higher levels require significantly more effort.
## Tips
- Prioritize recipe nodes if you need specific craftable items
- Outer ring nodes are expensive but efficient — save for them rather than spreading points thin
- Skill levels unlock new tiers at regular intervals, so consistent activity pays off
- Mining power directly affects which ore nodes you can effectively mine
